A capsule collection showcasing Takayuki Suzuki's meticulous creations will be available from Wednesday, November 26th. This collection will feature one-of-a-kind garments made from rare, limited-quantity vintage fabrics. Additionally, on Saturday, November 29th, the designer himself will be giving a performance demonstrating his creative process.
So, why were these limited-edition items made using vintage fabrics? We'll introduce the reasons behind their dedication to vintage fabrics in two parts. We spoke with designer Takayuki Suzuki and sales director Hiroyuki Oda at their atelier in Minami-Aoyama.

--This is a limited-time promotion starting November 26th (Wednesday). Why did you decide to create original products using vintage fabrics this time?
Hiroyuki Oda (hereinafter Oda) : "Even before I was approached about this promotion, I wanted to change the image of Suzuki Takayuki's menswear. Many people think of Suzuki Takayuki as a women's brand because of its strong image of off-white and lace. So, in order to expand the men's line, I was experimenting with different ways of 'presenting' it, such as changing the male models and altering the layout of the exhibition hall. It was at that time that a buyer approached me about a limited-time promotion. I had already discussed with the designer that we wanted to use vintage fabrics, so we decided to create a capsule collection and develop one-of-a-kind pieces."
--The collection using vintage fabrics is reminiscent of your usual collections, but incorporating patterns seems unexpected.
Takayuki Suzuki (hereinafter Suzuki) : "I've never used these materials before. By using vintage fabrics and incorporating patterns, I think this collection will be a pleasant surprise for both people who are unfamiliar with Takayuki Suzuki and those who already wear my clothes."
--I see, so you changed the image of the product itself, rather than just the way it was presented.
Oda : "I believe that incorporating patterns and colors from vintage fabrics will give a different impression, but I don't want it to become something completely different. It's different from usual, but I want people to still feel that it's distinctly Suzuki Takayuki."
Suzuki: "Also, we made sure the prices weren't too far removed from our usual collections. We don't want people to just look at the clothes and be done with it; we want them to actually pick them up and wear them."
We've learned about the circumstances behind the creation of these limited-edition items. Next time, we'll introduce the details of the vintage fabrics and provide an overview of the live performance.
