The MILA SCH Ö N MILANO Fall/ Winter 2026 collection will be available from September 5th (Saturday) Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th floor, Men's Tailored Clothing section (Mitsukoshi Isetan Online Store will start sales from September 9th (Wednesday)).
Its appeal lies not in flashy designs, but in the superior quality of the materials, the beautiful proportions, and the understated color scheme—qualities that are only truly appreciated when you put it on.

Since its launch in 2023, the brand, directed by Shuhei Nishiguchi, has embraced "EDERA MODERNA (Modern Ivy League)" this season, reinterpreting 1970s minimalism for contemporary adult attire. We explore its appeal through four styling examples that span dress, work, and sports, along with Nishiguchi's own words.
 
Shuhei Nishiguchi PROFILE
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1977. After working at vintage clothing stores and shops handling designer brands, he joined BEAMS in his hometown of Osaka. In 2011, he was selected as a buyer and moved to Tokyo, and since 2014 he has served as the director of BEAMS F. He also works on supervision and direction for other brands, and his published works include "Nishiguchi's closet" and "Nishiguchi Essentials 100".

MILA SCHÖN MILANO was launched in 2023. Nishiguchi, who received an offer from mila schön , has been involved in the process from meeting with manufacturers to production, while striving to differentiate it from the existing MILA SCHÖN MILANO . The core of his clothing design is a minimalist approach that eliminates unnecessary elements and uses high-quality materials. He aims to create "elegant holiday wear" whose quality is only truly appreciated when you put it on, through its comfortable fit, beautiful proportions, and understated color schemes.

Shuhei Nishiguchi (hereinafter, honorifics omitted) : "Quietness over flashiness. I want this to be worn by adults who have room for relaxation in their lives."

The collection underwent a major transformation starting with Fall/Winter 2025. The item composition was revised, and a subtle edge was added to the design and silhouette within the realm of classics. The theme for Fall/Winter 2026, which is an extension of this, is "EDERA MODERNA (Modern Ivy League)." The inspiration came from mila schön in the 1970s. Mr. Nishiguchi said he focused on the fact that even amidst the colorful trends of that time, minimalist design was consistently maintained.

Nishiguchi: "The underlying theme is, 'What if Mila Schön were alive today and designing a men's collection?'"
 
It is said that the music is centered around Italy, but also incorporates influences from Britain, America, and France from that era.

The first styling is a dressy sporty look, combining a khaki Harrington jacket and easy pants with a black long-sleeved polo shirt. While using casual staples for both top and bottom, the goal was to achieve a refined look reminiscent of wearing a suit. The double-ply wool gabardine fabric has just the right amount of stiffness and elegant drape, bringing a dressy sheen to the sporty feel.

Nishiguchi : "I thought, what if we used materials typically used for suits to create a sports jacket and trousers suit at a tailored factory? Is it casual or formal? Is it workwear or comfortable wear? I see it as something that encompasses all of those answers."

The jacket features a tailored construction that creates a three-dimensional fit in the shoulders, while the trousers have side adjusters and half-shirring for added comfort. The pintuck creases at the front maintain a vertical line, giving a neat and tidy impression even in a relaxed fit. It's also a welcome feature that it's easy to wear year-round, taking into account Japan's climate.

The high-density wool gabardine jacket features a slightly rounded silhouette. The parka and pants are made from 100% wool fleece lining spun from New Zealand merino wool. This is a luxurious sports style that combines the ease of casual wear with the high quality of materials.

Nishiguchi : "The most distinctive feature is the rich drape that comes from the wool, achieved by creating a relaxed silhouette. We also used wool for the fatigue jacket and produced it in a tailored factory to highlight its three-dimensionality and the beauty of its stitching."

While the shapes may resemble familiar sweatshirts and work jackets, there are clear differences in how the fabric drapes and the sheen of the surface. The fabric has excellent resilience, the knees of the sweatpants are less prone to stretching, and they are practical as they can be hand-washed. This creates a "subtle luxury" that the wearer can truly appreciate, making it suitable for everyday wear.

Nishiguchi : "The structured silhouette is reminiscent of 1970s Britain, and it combines that with Italian tailoring techniques. It has a sharp, three-dimensional construction with thin shoulder pads, but the collar rise, the ease and forward-set sleeve construction allow for comfortable arm movement."

This four-button double-breasted blazer with gold buttons has a strong presence, yet is incredibly lightweight and comfortable to wear. The bootcut style, with its moderately narrow thighs and adjusted knee and hem widths, creates a nearly straight silhouette that falls smoothly to the hem.

The strong black and white pattern is crafted from supple wool cashmere, and the limited color palette brings out a sense of elegance through the material and silhouette.
