The collaboration began in 2001 when adidas created footwear for the "Yohji Yamamoto Femme/Homme" collection under the name "adidas for Yohji Yamamoto." The following year, Yohji Yamamoto was appointed as creative director, and the brand "Y-3," which fuses fashion and sports, was born, making its debut at Paris Fashion Week in 2002. The "Y" in "Y-3" represents Yohji Yamamoto, and the "3" represents the three stripes (three stripes) that symbolize adidas. Y-3 is a sports fashion brand that combines adidas' specialized sports technology and functionality with Yohji Yamamoto's design, and its collections consist of men's and women's wear, footwear, bags, and other accessories.
