From June 4th (Thursday) to July 5th (Sunday), an exhibition by Jean-Philippe Delhomme will be held at Isetan The Space on the 2nd floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. A collection of his masterpieces will be on display for you to see all in one place.

-- Statement --

This exhibition will showcase a series of paintings created from spring to summer.
These were created outdoors, immersed in the landscape, and completed in a single session.

Immersing oneself in the landscape, becoming one with it, and celebrating its beauty with a simple heart—that is the theme of this work.

Some of my works were painted in the countryside around my studio, while others were painted on the Greek islands where I spent a long time.
I am looking for a place that has not been ruined by tourism or development, a place where the landscape seems to stand still.

The other works in this exhibition were created in the studio. Like the landscape paintings, the portraits are painted while facing the model.
The theme is to simply celebrate the beauty of the subject while sharing the same space. The portrait is completed in a single session, and no revisions or further work are done after the model leaves.

Still-life painting also emphasizes the importance of engaging with the subject.
Many of them are portraits of books or flowers, and if the books are homages to famous artists, I like to combine them with insignificant flowers—thistles and wildflowers picked from fields and paths.

Whether it is a woman or a man, a flower, a book or a landscape,
The important thing is to "see," not to transform, impose, or monopolize.
It's about depicting the beauty of fleeting moments.

-- Artist Bio --

Jean Philippe Delhomme carries on the history of artistic expression through classical techniques in landscape painting, still life, and portraiture. His approach involves directly observing the subject without the use of media such as photography, and completing the painting in a single session. Jean Philippe Delhomme's paintings capture the "here and now" moment, depicting the ephemeral atmosphere of landscapes illuminated by changing light, or the fleeting presence of models standing in his studio.

In parallel with the exhibition at Isetan The Space, a series of paintings by Jean Philippe Delhomme will be exhibited at the Perrotin Tokyo Salon Space.
